Campagna ist ein typischer süditalienischer Ort, am Fuß umliegender Berge. Ungefähr 9000 Einwohner hat die ehemalige Provinzhauptstadt, noch ohne Massentourismus. Im Ort findet ein markt statt, sowei kleinere kulturelle und traditionelle Veranstaltungen.
Der Ort liegt rund 100km südöstlich von Neapel und ca. 35km östlich vond er jetzigen Provinzhauptstadt Salerno.
