Quietness Space Light Darkness

These are qualities which become rarer and rarer in our country. You can still find those qualities in Wyns, a little village in the northern part of the province of Friesland. Next to our farm, which is build in the end of the 19th century, there is a small stable, formerly used for growing up young cattle, which we transformed into an apartment. The character of the place has been respected as much as possible, but everything has been accommodated in a way that staying for the night is very good possible and also comfortable. The building does have central heating, a little kitchen and a bathroom now. In this apartment, with a wide view over water and meadows, there is room for up to 4 persons. Depending on your personal wishes, we serve you a local breakfast. We are not a hotel, but we give you the opportunity to spend the night in a special countryside way. To stay in a former stable, to awake between the cows so to speak, does it attract you?

Description of the area:

Our farm (number 28, we don' t have streets here, only numbers) is situated near the canal we call Dokkumer Ee, and lies between Wyns and Bartlehiem, well known from the eleven cities skating tour. Wyns lies about 5 kilometer to the north from Leeuwarden, the capital city of our province.
There are 2 canoes to make a nice tour on the water. You can also explore the neighbourhood by walking or by bicycle if you want.
Nearby in Hogebeintum you can find a church on the highest terp from Friesland, and also you can visit the house of naïve painter Ruurd Wiersma and the wood saw mill in Birdaard. In Wyns there is an opportunity to have dinner in our local cafe 'the Winze', the terrace is near the waterside.

How to find us:

Wyns lies 5 kilometres to the north of Leeuwarden. If you are in the north eastern part of the city you take the direction of Lekkum and Miedum (Lekkumerweg) You pass through a little village called Miedum where you will see the tower of the church leaning over in a critical way. After 500 meters you turn to the left in the direction of Birdaard and Bartlehiem. You will arrive in Wyns now, but you follow the road and drive through to the north. About 300 meters after you left Wyns again, you will see our farm with a thatched roof on your left.
You can park the car on our farmyard.
