They’re a picture! The 8 ‘Pingo-houses’, situated around a ‘pingo’ (an ice age lake) just outside the village Twijzelerheide. These holiday homes can be found in an oasis of space and peace along with a few other lodgings.

Detailed description:

The Pingo-houses have a cosy living-room with a dining corner and kitchen and either two or three bedrooms. Two have a bath and a sleeping coach instead of a third bedroom. The Pingo-houses are all equipped for 6 persons and foreseen with modern conveniences for a relaxed holiday.

There are beautiful routes for cycling and walking here and possibilities for fishing, canoeing, swimming, horseback riding and so forth are nearby. This part of Friesland is especially interesting for bird watchers. Another bird reserve has just recently been made in Rohel.

Description of the area:

The beautiful Lauwersmeer area is a 15 minute drive away. The ferry for the car free island Schiermonnikoog also leaves here, ideal for a day trip. Various cultural sights and museums are close by and ‘De Kruidhof’ (internationally well-known botanical gardens) in Buitenpost is just around the corner. Of course the picturesque towns in the area also have a lot to offer.
In short, you will find space and peace here with all the possibilities for fun activities.
