Detailed description:

The cottage can host a family or company of 4 people. In the teritory there are also open air picnic place with garden fireplace , playground for children (swings , trampoline), ponds cascade ( fishing , row-boating is available) , walking path in the surroundings, chair-tower for beaver and wild animal watching. Auroxen and wild horses ‘’Konik Polski’’ in the neighbourhood (3 km). In wintertime you can ski around the territory, during rain you can make activities in roofed rest area equipped with table tennis, novus or use velobodybuilder.

Description of the area:

Ergli – picturesque and hilly town 8 km nearby, (restaurant and markets available). Beautiful landscape - alternately flat and hilly and therefore very suitable for Nordic Walking, hiking and cycling. There are many magnificent lakes and small rivers in surroundings.
“Braki” (12 km) – memorial of Writer Rūdolfs Blaumanis – the place where the famous writer R.Blaumanis (1963-1908) lived and worked. Here one can see farm house complex, characteristic to the Vidzeme region.
“Meņģeļi” (10 km) – the Memorial Museum of Brothers Jurjāni. The birth place of the founders of Latvian classical music, Brothers Jurjāni, is locatet on the banks of the picturesque Pulgožņa lake. The museum offers educational expositions and exhibitions, trying out skills at the weaver’s workshop and the opportunity to learn more about wind-instruments.

Rabbit Garden “Sveķi” (40 km) – the grandest and the most modern rabbit farm in the Baltics, where the animals are reared not only in cages but in bigger animal barns as well.

The capital Riga is about 130 km from holiday house, where you can go for a day trip by car.
We offer you to rent bikes. Maps with routes for hiking and cycling are available as well.

Leisure activities:

Nature Park of Gaiziņkalns (35 km). In the territory of the nature park is the tallest peak of Latvia – hill Gaiziņkalns (311 m). On the hilly territory there are several walking paths. During the wintertime one can find mountain skiing traces and skiing routes with picturesque lake and nature sceneries.
Koknese town (30 km) is located on the bank of Latvia’s biggest river Daugava. Historically (in the 14th century) this town has been a member of Hanseatic League. Since that time castle ruins have survived till nowadays, although – its foundation was flooded by the waters of river Daugava and Perse. At castle ruins, visitors can purchase souvenirs, hear cannon round sounds and cast coins of Koknese for remembrance. The castle ruins can be visited also during the dark time of the day, when they are specially illuminated.

How to find us:

1) from the capital Riga: one must drive direction Daugavpils ( A 6, E 22 ), till Koknese (approx.100 km from Riga). In Koknese turn to the left- direction Ērgļi ( P 79 ,approx. 32 km). Turn to the right at the sign “Upes Sausītes”, drive 800 m till the very holiday home.
